Organized on the Texas Technological College campus as the Eagle Scout Club in the fall of 1938, the club officially became the Beta Sigma Chapter on April 30, 1939. Born Jan. 22, 1904, in Floydada, Texas, the son of an area rancher. Attended Texas A&M, Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Technological College, where he received his BA in Education in 1926. Taught in rural schools in Crosby County and Ozona, in Crockett County, where he taught history, coached basketball and became superintendent of the Ozona Public Schools. Married Pauline Maddox in 1930. Retired in Lubbock to look after their ranch properties. Published several articles on area history...
